The Atomium as a trip from the Grand Place

The Atomium stands at Heysel, outside the old centre, so plan it as a separate outing. Regular opening hours are daily 10:00–18:00 with last entry at 17:30. The ticket normally includes five accessible spheres and the Design Museum Brussels. The upper sphere with the panorama can be closed for a time, so do not plan the visit around it and check the current status before you buy.

The park next door, Mini-Europe in the Bruparck, is a scale-model park. One combination ticket covers both. If you only have a few hours in Brussels, a guided walk in the centre may use your time better, and the Atomium can be a second-day trip.

How to get to the Atomium by metro

Two routes by metro.

From De Brouckère

Take line 1 towards Gare de l'Ouest, change at Beekkant to line 6 towards Roi Baudouin and get off at Heysel/Heizel. De Brouckère is about 5 minutes on foot from the Grand Place.

From Bruxelles-Midi

Line 6 runs directly. Get off at Heysel/Heizel.

Time

It is about 15 minutes from the metro stations. That is not a door-to-door time from the Grand Place, so add the walk to the station and the change at Beekkant.

Use the current STIB timetable for the day you travel. Our getting there guide covers STIB fares and the airports.
