The Grand Place light show in winter
The light show belongs to the winter programme called Winter Wonders, also known as Plaisirs d'Hiver or Winterpret. The 2026 edition runs from 27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027 on the Grand Place and on other squares in the city centre. The programme includes a Christmas tree, a sound and light show and a Christmas market.
This is a seasonal event, not a show that runs all year. General access is free, single attractions cost extra, and the programme is open daily from 12:00 to 22:00. If you want to see the square at night on a guided walk, our page on Brussels walking tours from the Grand Place lists walking tours to compare.

Planning a winter visit
Getting there, staying and what else is open.
The central station, Bruxelles-Central, is about 5 minutes on foot from the Grand Place, which makes an evening visit easy without a car. If you stay overnight, note that since 1 January 2026 the standard city tax is €5 per accommodation unit and night, not per person.
The Brussels City Museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00, but it closes at 16:00 on 24 and 31 December, and it announces a full closure from 4 January to 1 March 2027. Details are on the City Museum page.
The programme runs on the Grand Place and on other squares in the city centre, so the square can be busy in the evening. Dress for winter: the December averages are a daily high of 6.6 °C and a low of 2.1 °C, with 87.4 mm of rain. Arrive after dark within the opening hours and allow time to walk between the squares.
