Brussels walking tours from the Grand Place

Most walking tours in Brussels revolve around the Grand Place and the streets around it: the guild houses, the Town Hall, Manneken Pis and the Royal Galleries. Some add a theme. Chocolate and beer have their own pages, chocolate in Brussels and Belgian beer, and Bruges and Ghent are covered under day trips.

Tours differ in length, language, group size and what is included. The cards below show current offers with live prices and availability. Entry to the Town Hall or the City Museum is only part of a tour if the offer says so, so read the description.

Our picks: guided tours in Brussels

For an hour of context, the facade tour is enough; to see most of the centre on foot, take the 2.5-hour walk with the Royal Galleries. The Bruges and Ghent day suits you if you have one more day.

For most first visits, a guided walk for orientation plus one inside visit that you book yourself, the Town Hall or the City Museum, is a balanced plan. Add the beer or chocolate visit if that is why you came.

What to check before you book a Brussels walking tour

The wording of an offer matters more than the title.

Meeting point and start

Confirm where the tour starts and at what time. Look the place up on a map so you do not lose time getting there.

Language

Check the language of the guide in the offer. Do not assume the walk is offered in your language on every date.

What is included

Entry fees, tastings and transport are only part of a tour if the description says so. A walk past the Town Hall is not an inside visit.

Length and group size

Both vary by offer. Look at the duration in the card and at the group limit in the description.

Cancellation

The terms are set by each offer. Read them before you pay, especially for tastings and workshops with a fixed start.

Weather for a walk in Brussels

Monthly averages for 1991–2020 at the Uccle weather station.

MonthAverage highAverage lowRain
January6.1 Β°C1.4 Β°C75.5 mm
April15.0 Β°C6.0 Β°C46.7 mm
July23.2 Β°C14.1 Β°C76.9 mm
October14.9 Β°C8.1 Β°C67.8 mm

These are averages, not forecasts. April has the lowest monthly rainfall in the series and July the warmest highs, but it rains in every month. Pack a light rain layer and keep an inside stop in mind, such as the Town Hall or the City Museum, as a fallback.

Which walk suits which traveller

Match the format to your trip, then check the offer.

A first visit

A general walk around the Grand Place and the old town gives you orientation. Add an inside visit that you book yourself, such as the Town Hall.

Old town β†’

Food and drink

The chocolate workshop makes your own bar, lollipops and mendiants under guidance in about 45 to 60 minutes. It starts at age 7 and needs a reservation. Beer has its own museum and tastings.

Chocolate β†’

Families

The Town Hall video guide has a family route, and the City Museum is free for visitors under 18. The panorama tour uses narrow stairs, so judge it for your group.

Town Hall β†’

A day beyond the centre

Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp and Leuven are reachable by direct train. Those trips have their own page.

Brussels walking tours: frequently asked questions

How much does a walking tour cost?

Prices vary by offer, and the cards show the current price for your date. Inside visits that you book separately appear in the table above.

Does a walking tour include the Town Hall?

Only if the offer says so. The inside visit is €15 and the panorama tour €25 at full price in 2026, both booked on their own.

Do I need to reserve the Town Hall panorama?

The panorama tour has a ticket portal with dates, groups are limited to 15 people and the stairs are narrow. Check which date is available before you plan around it.

Are chocolate and beer included in a city walk?

Not by default. Chocolate and beer tours are separate offers, and the museums have their own tickets.

Are tours running in winter?

Availability depends on the offer. The winter programme on the square runs from 27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, and the City Museum is fully closed from 4 January to 1 March 2027.

Is grandplace.org a tour operator?

No. This is an independent travel guide with no link to the City of Brussels, visit.brussels or any tour operator. The cards show offers by other providers.
